bar cART

Living in a NYC apartment makes holiday decorating not always a walk in the park (more like a walk in Central Park after 10pm). If I could have it my way like Frank Sinatra, I would be the comparison to a 2nd grade teacher updating the bulletin board with every holiday they could think of. Man, I really did not fully appreciate all those clever and colorful ways they made a board not be so BORED. The Bar Cart is my version of a teacher’s bulletin board or stringing 100,000 lights around a home. Every holiday I can think up leaves me crafting the cart and getting our spirits into holiday the holiday spirit. I once had a mover try to eat a valentine’s Day themed coaster thinking it was candy. Try coming up with a polite way to say “Sorry sir, that porcelain round object is not edible.” It can be a simple decorating habit buying a festive pack of napkins or candy for the holiday of your choice. I just need to know where all these #Nationalonlychildday, #Nationalcoffeeday, and  #Nationalpetdays are coming from because when you turn into a bar cart bedazzler like myself you want to be prepared with all required items. P.S. My apologies if you do not get the bedazzler reference #STAYYOUNGWILDANDFREE, but if you do I would love some tips on where to purchase one.  Pictured below is just some of the St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, Easter, and Valentine’s Day decor. Believe me there will be so much more

Yes way Rose

April showers bring May ROSEALLDAY

Get ready for Memorial Day Weekend, and prepare for the transition many have been waiting all year for. Think zombie apocalypse… just more millennials that have no interest in eating you, just in search of an endless fountain of a light pink wine. Shirts, shoes, probably some rosé tattoos, who knows what is to come of 2017?  I mean a giant rosé bottle mascot is already is old news. Spring has sprung and the season of #roséallday hashtags will be filling your social media feeds faster than Whispering Angel selling out on Memorial Day Weekend. No more winter wallowing with rose-colored glasses, the hibernating Summer in a Bottle lovers are ready to play.

Top Rosé:

(judging by taste, aroma, texture, acidity, and of COURSE how pretty the bottle is)

Wölffer Estate You probably heard of this Sagaponack, NY vineyard, winery, or wine stand where you can even take home merchandise as a memory.

  1. Wolffer Estate Summer in a Bottle Rosé 2016
  2. Wölffer No. 139 Dry Rosé Cider (4 pack)
  3. Noblesse Oblige Extra Brut Sparkling Rosé

JEAN FEIGN

Back from HIATUS:  We all get a little busy and take some time off…

Here it goes: “Wait another fashion blogger?” (insert eye roll here.) Yes, I have heard it all “Wait people make money off taking pictures of themselves????”

However, to all you creative fashionistas hats off to you! It is because of you, Pinterest Ideas on what to wear on a date to meet a boyfriend’s parents, a wedding guest outfit etc. There are some style inspirations for our generation!

I do not need Couture or hardly ever buy high end RTW. However, my appreciation and obsession with Alessandro Michele’s designs and transformation of Gucci as a brand has me falling faster than the leaves outside (white girl pumpkin spice latte joke can be definitely inserted here.)  I seriously am in love with all the designs and the meaning behind his brilliant ART. I had the privilege of getting this jean jacket but you do not need to get the Gucci RTW to help your individuality come alive. Fashion forward millennials!

You can get a jean jacket just about anywhere and as for patches even Michael’s Craft Store sells them. So this fall let your freestyle flow! Collect patches and add them on to your jacket anything that you feel relates to you. Before you know it you created a capsule piece to a wardrobe.

Get in the Jean Feign #BlindforLove

First of all I hope any father’s reading this blog (I’m sure not too many) had a great Dad’s Day! Special shout out to Pop my grandfather AND main man, and my uncle Chuck without you both my male reader population would be zero.

Blogger babble: My grandfather is actually my legally adopted father as well. Not only has the man survived a shark attack posted in Sports Illustrated, ran numerous companies, held my family together, he also adopted my sometimes difficult to deal with but stylish self. The role model of my life who makes all and every one of my dreams come true is a simple and humble man. However, it’s pretty difficult shopping for his gifts considering Hallmark doesn’t have a happy pop/grandfather/legal father card. It’s ok though I make it work. The purpose of this post is not to come off sappy or ramble on. I just wanted to point out how amazing of a man my father figure is. I couldn’t have asked for a better dad if I tried. Although, you refuse to get rid of those awful orange corduroy pants that you swear are brown I love you still. I could never fully explain all you mean to me. As CHEESEY as it sounds (yes I will use the word cheesy considering my grandfather has a cheese company is 75 and still killing the game) you taught me the best accessory is my smile. Thanks for supplying that smile for the last 25 years.
Closing thought: smile=best accessory however, handbags and shoes=pretty good too

Special thanks to the help of my models: Pop (the man, the myth, and the legend) and my three beautiful cousins: Marissa, Emily, and Noelle.

The Future Of Fashion Is Looking Bright!

This past Wednesday I had the opportunity of being a guest at the Future Fashionistas fashion show held at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in West Orange, New Jersey. Thanks to MTL Communications I was able to witness firsthand all the talent and hard work behind this program. I could not have been more impressed at what a fantastic job the 6– 18 year old girls accomplished. Gazing in awe as I watched them show off their creations they personally sewed during their time with the program.

I had the chance to speak with Future Fashionistas owner Hallie Dennis who pleasantly showed me around as the girls anxiously prepared for their fashion show. Ms. Dennis’ daughter Dylan showed off her New York City inspired dress proudly. It came as no surprise that the program is extremely positive for young girls in helping with self-confidence and delivering a powerful message of girl power. The energy was contagious in the room that night and the girls were just as proud of themselves and each other as the parents, guardians, and their role models were of them.

The girls not only showed off one outfit or collection for the night but rather several pieces each including a line with Zara Tarez in which contestant Emily Chaleff won the opportunity of having her skirt design in Zara’s upcoming fall collection this year.

Reversible ponchos with hobo bags, one shoulder dresses and shirts, butterfly tops and Zara print bottoms, contrast sleeves on a-symmetric tops, pajama bottoms and matching bags, rocker tees, 14 panel leather zipper back dresses, infinity scarves and matching crop tops, tear and skater dresses, and pieces to even dress their dolls the girls so incredibly showed off their originality and creativity. Each piece had its own uniqueness from the rest of the group.

The future of fashion is looking very bright keep up the great work girls!

WHO THE HECK SAID I CAN’T WEAR WHITE BEFORE MEMORIAL DAY?!

WHO THE HECK SAID I CAN’T WEAR WHITE?

Are you one of the many believers that you can and should only wear white between the times of Memorial Day and Labor Day? Have you heard the whispers of others or have whispered to your friends yourself? “Why the HELL would they be caught dead wearing white before Memorial Day are they for real #Icanteven.”

As the white pants and shorts started flooding the racks at my favorite places to shop the gears started to turn. Who ACTUALLY told me I couldn’t wear white until this day? As a June baby I am easily attracted to white clothing (my birth stone is a pearl) and I am a cancer so I am pretty emotional. This explains why I seem to be almost bipolar about my white clothing purchases. So I can buy it and have to wait to wear it? So I am supposed to hang these perfectly wearable white skinny jeans in my closet and look at them until MDW strikes 12am? Should I purchase the countdown for an event app on my iPhone not for MDW activities rather just how many days, hours, and minutes I have left until Simon says I can wear white?

I began to do my research on what member of the fashion police actually said this. Turns out, no one seems to really know the true culprit of who made this ever lasting rule. There are many different theories of where the rule actually came from. Some believe it started in the early 20th century. Some believe it began in the 1950s and the standards of more people coming into the middle class and trying to fit in. When the upper classes vacationed they were often seen in white attire. I mean I guess I understand that they didn’t exactly wear their crop tops and high waisted ripped shorts in the early 20th century. White seemed to be associated with lighter clothing. So those trying to blend in to society tried to follow these trends as well.

So to all you fashion forward folks breaking the old society norms and wearing your whites before told more power to you. For those of you like myself that still have a hard time breaking the habit petrified that Kathleen Turner from Serial Mom will come out of your closet and take your life for not abiding by the fashion rule it will be ok. Perhaps just take a selfie in your whites alone somewhere behind closed doors. However, POST AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Here I am finally back in the big apple and I couldn’t be more happy. My two roommates and great friends of mine inspired me to get to work with tapping into my creative side and composing this post. It started off as a gloomy day and to no surprise my blankets seemed to be calling my name to stay wrapped up in them watching Netflix all day. However, the love for this blog, the motivation from my true blue babes, and the sun coming out (Vitamin D does wonders) had me up in the streets of SoHo getting a little salty. Climbing on scaffolds (yes I googled the correct name for those things they put up when they are working on parts of the street) was pretty fun. I mean I had tourists snapping pictures of me like I was a real celeb/model/crazy person.

So here are more details of my rainy day that turned rad:

Romper: LF specifically from LF SoHo check that place out bloggers the staff is amazing and they have items worth making the trip for from wherever you might be coming from.

http://www.lfstores.com/

Confession: I hate rompers! I think everyone has a type of clothing they feel they can’t wear because it doesn’t flatter them. My fear of fabric consists of rompers. I love the way they look on everyone else but myself. However, remember how I said the staff at LF SoHo was fabulous. They encouraged me to give this romper a chance because it actually looks like a dress on and to my surprise I loved it!

Jean Jacket: I packed a light jean jacked to throw over the romper incase it got a little chilly later on. Mine was from the clothing company Blank which can be purchased in many different stores and online.

Shoes: My thigh high suede boots are from Stuart Weitzman which can also be purchased in stores or online.

Bag: Prada tote in Cameo

Happy Friday everyone I hope you enjoyed the end of the week post as much as I did!

VANS will make her dance

Loungin’ with Bonnie on this sunny afternoon. Pair some lace trimmed shorts with a loose crop top and a fun pair of sunnies! I am wearing Free People shorts, with Ray Ban aviator sunglasses, and aqua vans. I hope all of you bloggers are having a great day!

You Don't Need a Man to Have a Stud on Your Arm

Studded everything! Studs are all the rage right now and you can find them just about anywhere. Topshop has a great selection of studs for a reasonable price. I chose to bring out the lime green Balenciaga with Hermes & Valentino Studded bracelets. Add a bright bag to your collection this spring season and get blooming!
