You either love them or hate them but they are popping up everywhere. So it sucks for you if your not a fan of the warrior sandal considering people will still keep wearing them at least until next season. Fashion icon Betsey Johnson once said, “Girls do not dress for boys. They dress for themselves and, of course, each other. If girls dressed for boys they’d just walk around naked at all times.” Betsey hit the nail on the head with this one considering most males see this look and think of a girl lacing up for the movie 300. I on the other hand would love to be labeled a badass Spartan but that’s another story.
The love/hate reaction of the shoe came to my attention yesterday while sitting in a nail salon. The notorious nail artists that talk about you and SWEAR that you cannot comprehend what they are saying. Your right I can’t understand what you are saying, but I can however read body language. One woman says to the other something about my boots and actually goes to touch them. If this does not give me the hint that you are speaking about what I am wearing or me then you must think I am absolutely oblivious. I don’t know how many handbags or shoes I have brought to nail salons over years and watched as they actually tried on or touched and made comments to each other about it. So I guess Betsey was once again right am I dressing for other women? Apparently I have to be dressing for the nail artists. They are going to critique the hell out of me so I should always be looking my best. However, back to my story I watched as one explained to the other that she liked my boots and the lady responded back to her “NO NO TOO HIGH.” Thank god a pedicure is relaxing because playing the role of my Spartan self yesterday I almost wanted to kick her in the face for that comment. And scream, “Tonight we dine in hell.” Yes, 300 is available on demand so I obviously saw it and needed to quote that. That being a little aggressive, but I mean she did have my feet in her hand. So basically the rest of the appointment was just plain awkward.

Love them or hate them but don’t forget to pack your Spartan attitude if wearing them out in public. You may need to protect yourself from the gladiator hater.

I of course LOVE my gladiator sandals from LF Soho that are Sam Edleman’s circus collection.
My shorts were perfect for yesterday’s extremely humid weather found at Oasis Boutique in Montclair, NJ
Tank from Aritzia (extremely comfortable I could literally sleep in that.)
Bag is Prada thanks to my grandma for letting me rock it 900 times.

First of all I hope any father’s reading this blog (I’m sure not too many) had a great Dad’s Day! Special shout out to Pop my grandfather AND main man, and my uncle Chuck without you both my male reader population would be zero.

Blogger babble: My grandfather is actually my legally adopted father as well. Not only has the man survived a shark attack posted in Sports Illustrated, ran numerous companies, held my family together, he also adopted my sometimes difficult to deal with but stylish self. The role model of my life who makes all and every one of my dreams come true is a simple and humble man. However, it’s pretty difficult shopping for his gifts considering Hallmark doesn’t have a happy pop/grandfather/legal father card. It’s ok though I make it work. The purpose of this post is not to come off sappy or ramble on. I just wanted to point out how amazing of a man my father figure is. I couldn’t have asked for a better dad if I tried. Although, you refuse to get rid of those awful orange corduroy pants that you swear are brown I love you still. I could never fully explain all you mean to me. As CHEESEY as it sounds (yes I will use the word cheesy considering my grandfather has a cheese company is 75 and still killing the game) you taught me the best accessory is my smile. Thanks for supplying that smile for the last 25 years.
Closing thought: smile=best accessory however, handbags and shoes=pretty good too

Special thanks to the help of my models: Pop (the man, the myth, and the legend) and my three beautiful cousins: Marissa, Emily, and Noelle.

Why my quarter life crisis, AKA hitting the big 2-5 is not making me swoon in the month of June. (Please save all grunts and moans about my over emphasis on 25.)

1. I no longer have my birthday planned out months prior. I remember a time when I put more preparation in my birthday dress then some brides do in a wedding gown. Sad? I think not, I would rather label myself as being very prepared for any possible outcome. The outcome of course is not having a “fugly” dress at my once a year celebration.
2. My only child syndrome now just looks like I’m being antisocial. There was a point in my life where hanging out with my dog and a box of skinny cow ice cream was just me unwinding and being an only child. I mean since every girl has been quoting Marilyn Monroe since age 12, let’s be real remember when she said, “when I’m alone I restore myself.” Or how about Hepburn saying, “I don’t want to be alone, I want to be left alone.” Pretty sure that describes me to a T.
3. Netflix seems more fun then nightclubs. Is it just me or does the sound of going out make anyone else actually tired sometimes? I would rather binge on Orange is the New Black season two. Sorry not sorry…
4. Getting your nails done is now a chore. Recently brought to my attention by one of my best babes, was the impeccable hearing of those nail artists-they are ALWAYS listening.

So fellow fashionistas and babes in a quarter life crisis hang on tight, but if something happens just blame it on your quarter life chaos. FYI some people who hit a midlife crisis are known to buy cars and go on shopping sprees. I may or may not be considering adding this to my to do list but until then check out this sundress from Aritzia that comes in multiple colors it is AMAZING!

The Future Of Fashion Is Looking Bright!

This past Wednesday I had the opportunity of being a guest at the Future Fashionistas fashion show held at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in West Orange, New Jersey. Thanks to MTL Communications I was able to witness firsthand all the talent and hard work behind this program. I could not have been more impressed at what a fantastic job the 6– 18 year old girls accomplished. Gazing in awe as I watched them show off their creations they personally sewed during their time with the program.

I had the chance to speak with Future Fashionistas owner Hallie Dennis who pleasantly showed me around as the girls anxiously prepared for their fashion show. Ms. Dennis’ daughter Dylan showed off her New York City inspired dress proudly. It came as no surprise that the program is extremely positive for young girls in helping with self-confidence and delivering a powerful message of girl power. The energy was contagious in the room that night and the girls were just as proud of themselves and each other as the parents, guardians, and their role models were of them.

The girls not only showed off one outfit or collection for the night but rather several pieces each including a line with Zara Tarez in which contestant Emily Chaleff won the opportunity of having her skirt design in Zara’s upcoming fall collection this year.

Reversible ponchos with hobo bags, one shoulder dresses and shirts, butterfly tops and Zara print bottoms, contrast sleeves on a-symmetric tops, pajama bottoms and matching bags, rocker tees, 14 panel leather zipper back dresses, infinity scarves and matching crop tops, tear and skater dresses, and pieces to even dress their dolls the girls so incredibly showed off their originality and creativity. Each piece had its own uniqueness from the rest of the group.

The future of fashion is looking very bright keep up the great work girls!

Looking for the perfect material that can be easily dressed up or down? Add some lace to your wardrobe! Lace can easily look luxurious when worn for a special occasion however; the fabric can still be dressed down to make a more casual look. Maxi dresses in lace are some of my favorite pieces for the summer! My Mavatar lace collection features some of my favored variations of this fabric for the season!

I am wearing a Reiss lace gown purchased at Bloomingdales, a Chanel blue patent leather classic, and YSL pumps in blue.
